- Based upon the inaugural Presidential Lecture to the Old Plymouth
Society on its reforming in July 1992. Crispin Gill describes the
various historians that have produced published histories of Plymouth,
including Crispin himself.
- Booklet No. 2: Plymouth's Palmerston Forts
- Author Freddy Woodward tries to answer the question "Was
the building of the forts around Plymouth during the 1860s Palmerston
Follies?"
- Booklet No. 3: Tracing Plymouth's History Through Memorials. Tablets
and Plaques
- Written by Ray Bush, this booklet tries to list the known memorials,
tablets and plaques around Plymouth. The booklet also includes a
map with the locations of the various memorials, tablets and plaques
in the city centre area marked.
- Booklet No. 4: History of the Naval Victualling Department and
its association with Plymouth
- This fascinating history by Len Stephens was first published in
1970 in the RN Supply & Transport Service Journal as a series
of articles. It has now been updated and published by the Old Plymouth

- Booklet No. 5: The Medieval Incorporation of Plymouth and a Survey
of the Borough's Bounds
- Written by Nicholas Casley and based upon his lecture to the Society
entitled "The 1439 Act of Incorporation and the Bounds of Late
Medieval Plymouth".
- Booklet No. 6: Plymouth (Drake's) and Stonehouse Leats
- The sixth booklet in the series, written by Ray Bush, is about
the Plymouth and Stonehouse Leats. The Plymouth Leat is commonly
known as Drake's Leat after Sir Francis Drake. This booklet goes
some way to showing us the route that they both took through Plymouth.
Included is several modern maps with the course of the Leats included.
